Janus "Drive" Single Bipolar Disorder Statistics and Resources

JANUS's new label, MusicSparksChange and the new Drive Single Release are honored to partner nationally with the JED Foundation and locally in Walworth County, WI with Open Arms Free Clinic to help build awareness, end the stigma surrounding Bipolar Disorder, and raise funds to help people suffering with mental illness. In the new video you'll see some of the statistics from the National Alliance on Mental Illness which are also listed below surrounding Bipolar Disorder:

 

Bipolar Disorder Affects 5.6 million adults in the U.S.

Bipolar Disorder can run in families

Some symptoms include severe mood swings & aggression

Additional symptoms anxiety & hopelessness

Up to 60% self-medicate with substance abuse

It is the 6th leading cause of disability globally

Nearly 50% attempt suicide at some point

On average Bipolar Disorder results in a 9.2 year reduction in expected life span

Up to 1 in 5 with Bipolar Disorder die by suicide

Only 1 in 4 receive an accurate diagnosis in less than 3 years

Cognitive behavioral therapy & medication can be effective

Treatment success rates are high at 80%

Since 2015, Open Arms Free Clinic has served over 750 patients suffering with mental illness. Every $1 raised is equivalent to $10 in life saving medication. JANUS Music Sparks Change Single Release Party at Oakfire on May 2nd raised thousands of dollars for Open Arms Free Clinic to help provide medication and services to those suffering with mental illness.
